Startup.com

I felt that this movie was a good example of a feasible yet large idea tackled in the wrong way. It also shows the downside of working with close friends. Both of the partners have conflicting personalities. In the end they both refuse to stand down on a particular issue causing so much friction the company starts to crumble. It shows accurately the stresses and pressures of starting a company.

Swot VC star

Strengths-
I feel that the vc star defiantly is on their news, and has a strong tie with an older demographic thus their success. The vc star also is a recognized brand. I dont really read news papers all that much but even i have heard of the vc star. And from my research i find that many people in Ventura county have grown up with this newspaper.

Weaknesses-
As much as their heart was in a good place, the only way to succeed in todays internet market is to give the user exactly what they want and not a cent more or less or longer or shorter. Now i know that may sound hard, however users today are very a.d.d on the internet and need to find exactly what they want, however if the content is good enough maybe they'll wonder. They really need to forget everything they know about their old demographic and learn about the new generation because if they connect to our generation, they fail.

Opportunities-
Given the right content and the right delivery method, there is no reason the vc star should not be able to penetrate the newer generation. However they need to focus on finding and being current on the right content, and providing it in the easiest of manors. with gas prices, wave reports, weekend events and concerts and fairs they can begin to provide to the vast population of Ventura county's young internet users. And hopefully if they can provide this new content, they will be able to obtain click thrus to their normal site as well.

Threats-
They need to establish credibility and really pop out of all the other crap on the internet. They need to make an aesthetically pleasing site or widget that connects with their demographic and then give them the content that they are asking for. They need to do this all the while making it seem as if they are a trustworthy source of information and anything from odd content to odd design can throw the user off... so dont be odd...

itunes thoughts

So when thinking about the future of downloading music i feel that things are changing. This is no surprise to anyone that knows anything about digital music or the music industry. The idea that artists main source of income in albums may be a thing of the past is odd. However there are other ways in which the music industry can grow along side the emerging trends. I feel that the biggest step forward would to be make a system of tagging songs in which all information possible about the song is encrypted within the file (artists, producers, engineers, lyrics ect) . After this has been done i would suggest creating a branded system to organize all this, maybe similar to itunes current layout. Then i would suggest that itunes takes on almost every artist that is independent. The idea is to have as much content as possible creating the market that so many torrenters want. People say there may not be the market for expanding the music selection which is a crock. The numbers show that people are willing to dig through the net to find their media... because it is out there.. only there is no price on it. This is where the music industry should step back in to claim what they supposedly lost. -thoughts for today-

Ipod Thoughts

I remember when mp3 players were new and the Ipod was yet to be released. They worked alright however were expensive. I feel that the Ipod's design and easy interface revolutionized the way we recieve digital music. Better yet apple branded the iPod and their products to be a sophisticated cultured lifestyle. With each release of the ipod or itouch apple continues to grow and connect with the consumer markets. I also feel that along with the strong community following of apple, there are also a large number of supporting products for apple products. While all supporting products are usually 3rd party vendors, many of them have turned into companies soley supporting apple products. I feel that this branding of "i" products will continue to excel and prosper.
